What are your top tips for choosing the perfect bridal jewellery?Â
Bridal jewellery is extremely personal so first of all, choose something that speaks to your style. Think about the neckline of the dress you are wearing; a delicate pendant works well with a V-neck, a short collar-style necklace suits an off-the-shoulder gown, and a geometric-shaped pendant works well with a square neck. Next, consider your colour scheme. Matching your earrings to your flowers or bridesmaids' dresses is a wonderful way to keep everyone looking uniform, and choosing jewellery with a bit of colour helps add personality to your wedding look. Finally, choose something you are likely to wear again. Jewellery isn’t made to sit collecting dust in a jewellery box, so think about other outfits you can style your bridal jewellery with.Â
How would you best describe the company’s style, and why you love doing what you do?
Kiki McDonough is all about timeless, colourful design. Ever since I started the brand in 1985, colour has been the most important factor when designing new collections, and this has become what we are most well-known for. I design pieces that can be worn everywhere, from weddings and dinner parties to the stands of a football match (I have spotted a pair of my earrings at a Liverpool match before)! My favourite thing is seeing people in the street wearing my designs, it’s what gets me up in the morning.
What sets you apart from other jewellers?
Gemstones have long been the main event at Kiki McDonough, and we work with all sorts of beautiful stones. When I started combining different gemstones and playing with colour in the late 80s, other jewellers were still hesitant about using gemstones outside the big three (rubies, emeralds, and sapphires). Whilst gemstones have become more popular in the jewellery industry over the years, we have been using them for decades and have discovered the most beautiful colours and cuts. Every piece I design is extremely wearable, which is why our clients keep coming back.

We’ve just launched a new Pearls collection which I am very excited about. Pearls have long been the first choice for blushing brides due to their rich history and beautiful lustre, and we like to feature these classic gemstones in designs with a contemporary twist. I have never met a person who doesn’t suit pearls, so they are always a great choice for weddings. The tops of these new pearl earrings all have corresponding drops in our Detachable Drops collection, which make for lovely gifts to bridesmaids and mother-of-the-brides alongside our classic diamond hoops.Â
